The operator of Motobu Maai (hereinafter "we") sets out below how personal information is handled in the app "Motobu Maai" (hereinafter "this app").
Our basic policy
This app is built on the principle of not collecting users' personal information.
There is no account registration, and there is no screen asking you to enter your name, address, email address or similar details. Anyone can use this app without registering anything.
Information we do not collect
This app has none of the following features, so we never obtain information relating to them.
- Account registration or login
- Input forms (for enquiries we provide only a link that opens your email software)
- Analytics tools
Handling of location data
This app includes features that use your device's location.
Your location is obtained only if you grant permission in your browser's permission dialog. It is used solely within your browser to calculate distances to facilities, and it is never sent to our servers and never stored. It is discarded when you close the page.
If you do not grant permission, the only consequence is that distances are not shown.
Information stored in your browser
This app stores your selected display language in your browser (localStorage) so that the same language is used the next time you visit.
Only the language code (for example, ja or ko) is stored, and it contains nothing that identifies you personally. You can delete it at any time from your browser settings.
This app does not use cookies of its own.
Communication with external services
Some features of this app cause your browser to communicate directly with external services. Because of the nature of internet communication, your IP address, browser type and similar information are sent to the destination.
When a map is displayed
When a map is shown on the Living Map, Sightseeing, Events or Stay screens, communication occurs with services provided by Google (Google Maps, and Google Fonts, which is loaded as part of displaying the map).
When accommodation photos are displayed
On the Stay screen, facility photographs are loaded from Rakuten Travel's image delivery servers.
When you open a link
This app contains links to Google Maps, Rakuten Travel, Airbnb, Booking.com, Jalan, the Motobu Town Tourism Association, Instagram, Facebook, and the official websites of individual facilities. You are taken to these sites only if you choose to open the link. How your information is handled after that is governed by each site.
If you do not open the map or the Stay screen, no external communication occurs.
Information obtained by our servers
To keep the published content up to date, our servers obtain information from the following services. These communications never include any information about you.
- Japan Meteorological Agency (weather warnings and advisories)
- Open-Meteo (weather and sea conditions)
- Rakuten Travel (accommodation rates and availability)
- microCMS (event information)
- Motobu Town Tourism Association (news)
- Google Places (periodic updates of published information)
Access logs
This app is provided on services operated by Vercel Inc. In order to provide the service and prevent misuse, Vercel records information such as the IP address of the visitor, the browser type and the time of access.
This information is handled in accordance with Vercel's privacy policy. We do not separately store or analyse these logs.
About analytics
At present, this app uses no analytics tools whatsoever. There is no mechanism that measures visitor numbers or which pages are viewed.
If we introduce such tools in future, we will revise this policy and state so before doing so.
Changes to this policy
We may change this policy in response to changes in the law or the addition of features to this app. If we make a significant change, we will post a notice to that effect on this page.
